Internal Use: CEO Email Letter

Use this CEO email letter to staff as a template for your internal hospital communications and to introduce your staff to your organization's commitment to them and the Safe & Sound campaign. Feel free to copy/paste as needed.

Dear [NAME OF HOSPITAL] staff:

Patient Safety Awareness Week is a time to reflect on the health and safety of our patients. It also is an opportunity to emphasize the importance of the health and safety of our workforce. Health care workers across Indiana and the nation are experiencing growing acts of violence while caring for patients, which simply cannot be tolerated.

Through a new campaign called Safe and Sound in partnership with the Indiana Hospital Association, [NAME OF HOSPITAL] is working to address and reduce violence against our most valuable asset – you, our health care workers.

The Safe and Sound campaign will include a variety of resources, including internal training and external communications, such as workplace safety signage to display throughout our facility, communicating our anti-violence policy. In addition, you will soon see informational pop-up banners in our hospital geared toward patients, families, and visitors to reinforce our commitment to keeping you safe.

You can find more information about the Safe and Sound campaign and a toolkit with resources here.

[NAME OF HOSPITAL] will continue to promote workplace safety not only during Patient Safety Awareness Week but throughout the year and beyond. We are committed to protecting all employees from physical violence or verbal abuse that may be encountered on the job and will support staff in reporting or pressing charges if necessary. If you see an unsafe situation, say something so that we can support you.

Please know that we are laser-focused on ensuring the physical and psychological safety of staff, volunteers, and patients. Thank you for all you do daily to deliver the highest quality of care to everyone who walks through our doors.

Sincerely,

[Hospital Leader Signature]
