CMS Overhauls Hospital Price Transparency Rule: Key Takeaways and Action Steps

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized changes to the hospital price transparency regulations.

CMS provided a fact sheet discussing the hospital price transparency final provisions of the calendar year 2024 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System final rule (CMS-1786-FC), which can be downloaded from the Federal Register here.

In addition to the CMS sheet, CorroHealth Director of Consulting, Nikki Graves, presented an overview of the regulations going into 2024 and 2025. A recording of this presentation can be accessed here.

Regulatory Promotion | Price Transparency and No Surprises Act

Hospital leadership continues to push for cost containment and reallocation of existing budget to address staffing concerns. Amid today's unique healthcare environment, additional spend for regulatory items can be difficult. CorroHealth has extended extensive discounts for Hospital Association members to assist with regulatory spend related to the Price Transparency and No Surprises Act regulatory areas.

NSA 2023 | IHA Members Solution

In 2023, the latest installment of the No Surprises Act (NSA) stipulates that affiliated co-providers will be responsible for producing:

  • Their own Good Faith Estimates (GFEs) for the uninsured
  • Or to be included with the Notice and Consents (NAC) for insured patients

Convening providers must combine the GFEs produced by affiliated co-providers into a consolidated GFE for insured and uninsured patients.

As IHA Members, you have direct access to a platform designed to meet this regulation. ParaRev (a CorroHealth company) has built upon its existing platform that addressed earlier components of the NSA. This comprehensive solution rounds out all aspects of the 2023 regulation.

If you missed the detailed webinar we hosted on the NSA 2023 topic, feel free to access the recording of the session (Passcode: mx1D?uyu). The slides from this session are available here.

Given the timeline on this regulation coming into effect on January 1, 2023, IHA has secured an easy path for your regulatory compliance.
